In 1988, the Phelps County Community Foundation granted the Holdrege Public Schools $30,000 for the purpose of establishing an endowment to benefit the Holdrege school system. In order to address decreasing school funding while retaining quality education, funds held at the Foundation can be used for in-service workshops, visiting classroom teachers, specialized equipment and programs, scholarships, unusual capital expenditures and unusual equipment. Since inception, nearly $60,000 has been granted for the benefit of Holdrege Public Schools students.
The Holdrege Public Schools Board of Education has approved the following policy:
There will be a Holdrege Public Schools Foundation committee working in cooperation with the Phelps County Community Foundation with the following mission statement and committee structure.
School Foundation Mission Statement
Support and enhance the educational efforts of students and teachers of Holdrege Public Schools by providing funding for innovative and challenging programs, learning experiences, and activities. Donations can be made to this fund at any time and all
contributors will receive a charitable tax receipt for their gift
through the Phelps County Community Foundation. Gifts can be
mailed to the Foundation at 701 4th Avenue, Holdrege,
NE 68949. Donors may choose to contribute online to the Holdrege Public
Schools through the Phelps County Community Foundation's web site
at www.phelpsfoundation.org.
Under the Donor Information tab, click on 'ways to give' and
you will be able to access a radio button in the online giving
section that says 'DONATE'. The Foundation has a Pay Pal
account that is free for the donor to use. Once a donor
is at the Pay Pal site, there is a note section where you can
indicate that you wish your contribution to be made to the Holdrege
Public Schools District #44 Fund. Gifts can be made in honor
or memory of loved ones.
