by Jeff Moore

August 30, 2007

The first ever Holdrege FFA Chapter Kick-off Picnic was held at North Park on August 29th at 6:30 pm. Thirty-four Holdrege FFA members along with their parents and numerous guests attended the event.  In total, over 75 people were served hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and drinks. A brief meeting was held by the chapter. All members introduced themselves by saying their name, grade, and favorite type of ice cream.

FFA members had a short informational meeting, discussing several upcoming events. The group discussed dues, National FFA Convention, committees, and the farm safety camp.  After the meeting, Alumni members also discussed some plans for the upcoming year.

Sponsors were Holdrege Market Place (meat and buns), 37 Cattle Company (meat, supplies and labor) Monty and Tammy Vonasek (grills and set-up), Pam and Doyle Rademaker (grills, and set-up, Chad Jacobsen ( set-up), Chuck and Ellen Johnson( set up), and several other parents helping out for a great meal. Thanks to all of you for your support!

Upcoming events for the FFA Chapter are State Fair Livestock Shows over Labor Day Weekend, A Chapter FFA Meeting on September 11 at 7 pm in the Ag Room, Husker Harvest Days on September 12th, and Our Farm Safety Camp on September 20th at the Ag Center.
