Mona Peterson -
Watercolor Painting
Having lived in Funk all of her life, Mona has tried to bloom where she was planted. Her husband, Roger is engaged in farming. They have three children, Andrew, who is living and working in Denver and Abbey who is finishing up a dietitics internship in Dallas and Michael, who is in school at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
She is a
graduate of Kearney State College in Art Education and has taught
art at Funk Public School and R-4 School for over 25 years and is
now
employed as an art teacher with the Holdrege Public Schools.
Through the years, she has been commissioned to do many paintings
of kids, kids, kids, over 125 and counting! Her medium of
choice is watercolor and her philosophy is to make a universal
statement through portraiture, using the inherent qualities of
watercolor.
Mona tries to capture a moment or feeling; if an exact likeness happens, so much the better. She desires the painting to stand on its own merit, not because it is ofsomebody.
