So soft and fluffy—who could resist a snuggle?

A Good Hatch!

by Amber Brown

April 25, 2008

For the past 21 days, the kindergarten through third grade students in Mrs. Brown’s room at Franklin Elementary have been studying embryology.  The students watched videos, wrote in journals, and read about chicks, but nothing could compare to day 21 when the chicks finally starting pipping.  What an amazing experience it was to watch those 16 tired chicks finally emerge from their shells!

After a day of drying off, they were ready to be held and loved by many.  Although we had a good hatch, the students did learn to avoid counting their chicks before they hatched!
