Karen Kreutzer, first grade teacher at Washington Elementary, was recently awarded the Master Teacher from the HPS Board of Education. The Master Teacher is an award given annually by the Board to recognize excellence in teaching amongst the staff. The Board solicits nominations from the public and Jeanne Wilke, whose son is a student in Mrs. Kreutzer's class, nominated her.
In her nomination Mrs. Wilke said, "Karen has exemplified outstanding characteristics of an Exceptional Elementary School Teacher. She actively listens to the children when they are speaking to her. She reacts with genuine approval and appreciation of their successes. When discussing with them something they may be doing wrong or in a way that is not in their best interest, she has a loving, caring guidance to her response in ways that the children are accepting of it in cooperative ways. She is consistent in treating each student with respect and attentiveness; leading each child to feel as though they are the most important thing to her at that given moment. She uses praise as an encouragement to aid the student in reaching his/her full potential."
Mrs. Kreutzer joins a group of 36 other exemplary teachers who have been honored with the Master Teacher award throughout the years. Congratulations Mrs. Kreutzer!
