Holdrege FFA Officer Team Attends Officer Training Conference
May 28, 2009
May 21-23rd saw all eight members of the Holdrege FFA Officer team attending Chapter Officer Leadership Training Conference (COLT) at the Leadership Center in Aurora. The theme for the COLT was “Escape to Excellence”. COLT enabled each of the eight officers to spend time learning about their specific officer position and developing ideas that can be used by the Holdrege FFA Chapter for the upcoming year. Current Nebraska State FFA Officers conducted COLT and led most all of the workshops, skits and officer development sessions. Each officer worked with over 20 different FFA Chapter officers from across the state in developing skills in conflict resolution, trust building, and developing the FFA Chapter Program of Activities.
The officer team also spent time making plans for the upcoming
school year and developing ideas to involve all chapter members in
the organization of the chapter. The team placed third in their
division in Official FFA Meeting Opening Ceremonies competition on
Friday evening. The chapter also earned a bronze rating on the
2008-2009 Chapter Scrapbook. Those members who attended were:
President; Jolee Sturgis, Vice President; Logan Reed, Secretary;
Michaela Gray, Treasurer; Andrew Bergman, Reporter; Ashley Frost,
Sentinel; Lincoln Pearson, Parliamentarian; Alec Frisell, and
Historian; Nick Anderson. The next major functions for the FFA
Chapter include summer SAE visitations and the Phelps County Fair
in July with the Community Watermelon Feed and Test Your Well
Night.
