Holdrege FFA Receives National Recognition

August 06, 2009

The Holdrege FFA Chapter recently learned that the chapter and past members will be recipients of high honors at 82nd National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN on October 21-24th. The Holdrege Chapter will be recognized as a National Three-Star Chapter along with twelve other FFA Chapters from Nebraska. Of the over 7,700 FFA Chapters only 374 chapters are recognized as National Three Star Chapters. This rating is based on the overall ranking of the National Chapter application, which is a detailed report of the FFA Chapter’s activities for the past year. Only the top 10% of all chapters nationwide can compete at the national level.

Additionally, the Holdrege FFA will compete as a National Models of Innovation Chapter in the area of Chapter Development. Holdrege FFA will be one of ten model chapters competing in this area along with the Seward and Syracuse FFA Chapters. As a Models of Innovation Chapter the delegates of Holdrege FFA will organize and present a summary of the chapter Program of Activities focusing on the Chapter Development Area at the 82nd National FFA Convention this October. The chapter will also be recognized with the other ten Models of Innovation Chapters on the national stage and receive special recognition at the National Chapter Awards Program Banquet during the Convention. Chapter members and supporters should be extremely proud of this high achievement level by the FFA Chapter. To be recognized as a Models of Innovation Chapter is a special honor that only comes from hard work, planning and dedication of its members and support of the parents and community.

The National FFA Organization is a national youth organization of 507,763 student members – all preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture – as part of 7,439 local FFA chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The National FFA Organization changed to its present name in 1988, in recognition of the growth and diversity of agriculture and agricultural education. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
