HMS Students Make Music In KMS Honor Band

Three Holdrege middle school students participated in the Kearney Middle School Honor Band last Saturday, February 6 at Sunrise Middle School.
Percussionist Heather Smith, flautist Emily Blanchard, and oboist Breanna Obermier rehearsed all day with 84 students from 30 schools across central Nebraska.  The ensemble was led by guest clinician Michael Koch of Scottsbluff.  Mr. Koch is the band director at Scottsbluff Middle School.  He has received many awards including a Citation of Excellence from the National Band Association.  Song selections for the afternoon concert were “Ceremony, Chant, and Ritual”, “Midnight Escape”, “Soldiers Procession and Sword Dance”, “Revenge of the Dust Bunnies”, and “Sounds of Sousa”.
