Holdrege High Music Department Sets Sights On TEXAS!
by Dan Wiese
December 02, 2011
After weeks of deliberation with parents and students the Holdrege High School music department has selected Texas as its destination for the Spring 2014 music trip. Looked at sights were Chicago, Texas, and St. Louis. In the end, Texas was chosen by students and directors. Band director Dan Wiese states, “Texas was attractive both for its monetary and educational value. We all saw the fun things to see and do as well as the great performance venues in Texas.”
The trip will include both band and choral departments. The ensembles will travel to Dallas and then San Antonio before returning to Holdrege. Performances will most likely include the La Villita Historic District, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and the Alamo. Other activities which are being looked at for the trip are a Texas Rangers baseball game, Sixth Floor Museum, Medieval Times Tournament, boat ride through the Riverwalk, RiverCenter IMAX Theatre, and SeaWorld San Antonio.
